In the Benaroya Glass Gallery, MoNA presents a survey of Seattle-based glass artist Nancy Callan’s work, including Bee Butts, Cane Tops, Winkles, and Clouds. The playfulness of Callan’s subject matter is juxtaposed with the high degree of skill she employs to create a variety of engaging pieces. Callan takes traditional glassblowing techniques to the next level, using the wonders of childhood—comics, cartoons, superheroes, toys—as inspirations for her brightly colored, boldly patterned, and elegant forms.
