Storytelling through Clay

Date:

Saturday, May 6, 2017 - 10:30pm
Saturday, May 13, 2017 - 10:30pm

Instructor: Sue Roberts
Saturday, May 6 and Saturday May 13 from 10:30-3:30pm
Cost: $150

Teaching artist Sue Roberts will help you build skills through the stages of conception, planning, problem solving and creative expression to tell your individual story in clay. The artistic process brings together the head, heart, and hands, addressing the needs of the whole self, no matter what your age. No previous experience required - come prepared to relax and have fun!
The first Saturday class will begin with a demonstration on building a ceramic object using slab and coil methods. Sue will work with each participant individually in helping develop his or her ideas to construct and complete a small-scale piece by the end of the first class. All clay pieces will be fired and ready to paint for the following Saturday, May 13 class. A variety of surface and finishing techniques will be included in this last class, and the clay pieces will be finished with acrylic paints or stains and encaustic medium.

Cost: $150, materials and firing included (10% discount for museum members). Sign up and click here to pay online.

Class limited to 10 participants
